Making Our Way Through the Old Roman City of Barcelona! Fieldtrip 1

As a class, we went on a field trip to the Old Roman City in Barcelona, Spain.  The fieldtrip met in the Gothic Area of Barcelona right near the subway stop of Jaume 1.  We walked around and learned about old Roman city.  The roads in the old Roman city are much more narrow, they are like alleys, compared to many of the streets throughout Barcelona.  While touring, the window detailing on the buildings caught my eye.  Upon entering the museum, we noticed the setup of fashion week in Barcelona.  I was really excited to see that there was fashion week in Barcelona and was able to snap a few photographs of the runway.  After our walking tour, we entered the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, which is the history museum of Barcelona.  The museum was quite fascinating and beautiful.  The Romans made such useful and practical objects.  For example, the Romans used large circular wooden basins to hold their wine. For example, the Romans used large circular wooden basins anything artificial.  The Romans were very particular about what they put into their bodies and only ate and drank that of high quality.  Our teacher Xavier Alcon once said, “You are what you eat”.  That line really intrigued me because as Americans, we live such a fast paced life and sometimes we forget to stop and think about all the processed and artificial food we are consuming while going about our daily routines.  Even the laundry detergent the Romans used was natural.  The museum had a lot to offer; the products within the museum expressed how much detail and time went into the different Roman products.
